In a society built upon Eurocentric standards of beauty, Black Women have been consistently stigmatized for their appearance. White women are continuously excused for altering their bodies (e.g., plumping their lips and buttocks) while Black Women are shamed for such features—which exist on them naturally. When it comes to standards of beauty, it appears that Black features are beautiful as long as a Black Woman does not bear them.
